There's just something about the way this Nathan speaks to him that rubs him the wrong way. It's not exactly patronizing, but there's just something that annoys him in his 'brother's' tone. And he's treating him as if he and the future Peter lying there dead before him are one and the same -- not even showing his own dead brother the slightest bit of concern. It's wrong, and it's starting to make him angry.
Nathan speaks of things that horrify him. He knows that's what will lead to the hell that he's seen -- that he has to prevent -- but even now Nathan is hiding something from him. If he has to stop it, he has to know how -- he needs to know everything...
But when he tries to read Nathan's mind, his brother blocks him. Again and again, he refuses to let him in. But he has to know, or he can't stop it. At least, that's what he tells himself as the anger grows. How dare his own brother hide things from him? Can't he see how badly he needs to know?
Can't he feel it? Can't he hear it?
...tick tick tick...
As his already tenuous control shatters, he shoves Nathan against the wall and holds him there, telekinetic grip so powerful when fed by the need and his anger. He's always had a short fuse -- people have always said he has his father's temper, while Nathan has his mother's -- and Nathan is still refusing to let him in...
...tick tick tick...
It grows louder as Nathan struggles, as his brother tries to shove him out, and doesn't he know it's futile to even try? He will get his answers, he will understand...
And sudden fear drowns the anger as he realizes what he's done; as he lets his brother's dying body fall to the floor and runs away before they can find him, returning to his own time and the cell of the person whose fault all of this is. And the anger is back with a vengeance, as he launches himself at Sylar...
