2.17. Half of writing history is hiding the truth. -- Serenity
I'm a freedom fighter, or America's Most Wanted, depending on what side of the line you fall on regarding the rights of Specials in this fine country of ours.
The government thinks I'm the most dangerous terrorist there is, and in so many ways they're right. But to others of my kind -- to those terrified of discovery, or those already found and locked away in Homeland Security facilities that make high-security prisons look like summer camps, I'm their hope for freedom and a normal life.
They're both right, but they're also both so very wrong. None of them have any idea what I really am. As far as I know, only one other person out there does know, and he's not about to tell anyone. It would damage him so badly if anyone ever were to find out.
Sometimes...
Sometimes I think I should declare the truth to the world, let them see how badly he's lied to them all. Sometimes I think it might possibly be enough to start to turn this disaster of a world around.
But most of the time I realize that all it would do is ruin him, and despite all that he's done -- despite all the pain and horror he's brought down on us -- I can't do that to him. He's my brother. We were as close as two people could be, and my god, I still love him despite the hypocracy...
So we both perpetuate the lie and I continue to play my role, and all the lives saved will never measure up against all those lost...
