Okay, so in 1x02, Don't Look Back, Mom tells Peter that it wasn't a heart attack, Dad killed himself.

So in 3x08 we find out that Nathan is the one who found him, and that the doctor tells them (under Arthur's control) that it was a massive heart attack.

Are we supposed to believe that Peter and Nathan NEVER talked about this? That the discrepancies never came up?

Continuity error, or just stretching the suspension of disbelief a bit too far?

One can commit suicide and have it look like a heart attack, just as one can commit murder and make it look like a heart attack.

Also, maybe they didn't. Peter's just been facing whether he truly had faith in himself or just didn't care if he flew or not and would he want to risk a talk about his attempt to talk about Dad's?

Nathan might not have been willing to talk about it, having seen his father downed, then his brother having committed suicide - whether he could fly or not it was still suicidal as my Peter muse constantly pretends it wasn't.

It's entirely possible the boys merely clung to one another in their grief of everything going on - Dad, Heidi, the trial itself and Dad's involvement - without actually comparing notes about it.
